Thank you to the Wisconsin producers who featured their products at the Tasting Reception.

The WGA presented Grocers in the Capital Day February 16 and 17. We kicked off this year’s event by hosting a joint reception with our friends at the Wisconsin Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association. We also had briefings on all the issues that affect grocers and scheduled one-on-one visits for you with your elected officials.

Many thanks to the following for their sponsorship of Grocers Day in the Capitol!  Altria, MillerCoors; Coca-Cola Enterprises, Cost Seg Associates, Averill Anderson, Risk Management, Snack Food Association, Shazam and Wisconsin Milkcap Promotions!

Wisconsin Tasting    Many thanks to those special vendors who stepped up and featured their products at the Wisconsin Tasting Reception for Grocers Day in the Capitol.  Capitol-Husting Company (Rehorst Vodka and Gin; Jimmy Luv’s Bloody Mary Mix); Carr Valley Cheese, Coca-Cola Enterprises; MillerCoors/Leinenkugel Brewing; Weggy Winery and Wollersheim Winery.

Senator Decker spoke to the WGA at Grocers in the Capitol Day.

Lucky Winner!    BILL SCHULTZ of the Piggly Wiggly in Mosinee won the special prize drawing sponsored by Coca-Cola Enterprises for the free trip to Washington, DC to participate in the annual Public Policy Conference on March 17th and 18th.  Bill will be joined several other WGA members who will be briefed on key issues and then carry the industry message to Wisconsin’s Congressional Delegation.  If you are interested in attending, contact MICHELLE KUSSOW at (608) 244-7150.

Attendees met with more than ten Senators explaining the importance of the organized retail crime bill and reported that there were no concerns with the legislation. Senator Taylor’s office said today that they would be scheduling the bill for a vote to pass out of the committee in the next few weeks and are hopeful the bill will be passed by the full Senate prior to the Legislature’s adjournment in April.
